The Mindfulness Meditation Initiative

The Mindfulness Meditation Initiative is an 8-week course designed to teach participants how to practice Mindfulness Meditation with particular emphasis on dispelling common myths about meditation and discussion of how to apply this practice to everyday life.

If you have never tried meditation or have tried it but struggle to make it a regular practice, this class is for you! Receive ongoing support and instruction while learning 4 basic types of meditation.

Each thirty-minute class will include a guided meditation as well as discussion of the intent of meditation, tips for practice and Q&A. No need to sit on the floor – chairs will be provided! Yoga mats and cushions are also provided for those who prefer to practice while lying down or seated on the floor.

Attendance to at least two classes per week is strongly encouraged, but you may attend as many as you want! Participants are also encouraged to practice at home. To assist in establishing a home practice, guided meditations from popular meditation apps will be suggested weekly for those who wish to use them.

If you are unable to attend the same class times each week – no problem! This course is designed to be flexible. Attend whichever classes work for you. Each week will cover a different theme. So, although the content of the classes throughout the week may vary slightly depending on the questions and comments presented by participants, each week of classes will have the same focus.
