The Mindfulness Meditation Initiative

Each month, The Mindfulness Initiative offers Monthly Meditation Courses to teach participants how to practice meditation as well as how to apply the practice to their everyday lives.

In May we will cultivate the ability to be mindful of the current moment as well as explore compassion practices. Both of these practices have been shown to decrease mental and physical pain, to increase positive emotions and resiliency, to improve the immune system and more. Compassion practices have multiple additional benefits such as reducing unconscious bias and protecting us from emotional exhaustion and burnout.

In June we learn how to stay connected to the present moment through awareness of physical and mental experiences. We learn to see both external and internal experiences more objectively so that we are able to respond wisely rather than react habitually. Some of the many benefits of this practice are decreased pain and stress, increased emotional regulation, improved sleep, improved immunity and increased sense of well being.

Each class includes a guided meditation as well as discussion and tips for practice. Participants are supported with optional guided meditations for at-home use as well as additional resources for those interested in exploring the practice outside of class.

Participants are encouraged to attend at least 2 classes per week, but are invited to attend as many as they would like.

Buy your Monthly Meditation Pass online here or at the Courtesy Desk. Fees will not be prorated at any time. No refunds after the 7th of each month.

"When you are surrounded by positive, supportive people, their attitudes can't help but rub off onto you....Galter "magic"! From the welcoming greeting at the front door, the staff and especially the other members get me going and the magic continues after my exit into the real world. Yes, Swedish/Galter is based on science, but I'm convinced it's the magic!" – Sandy
