Governor Pritzker made announcements this week regarding State of Illinois tier mitigations. These announcements will not impact the closed areas of our facility or our operations at this time. 

Our East Pool is open with some restrictions in place (see details below). The West Pool will remain closed until further notice.

Upon the recommendation of Swedish Hospital’s Infection Control team we have put the following restrictions in place for East Pool usage:

  • Face coverings MUST be worn at all times (even in the pool).
  • Water walking and/or exercising ONLY. Lap swimming is NOT allowed.
  • Lane reservations are required and will be available up to 48 hours in advance on the My Wellness member portal. Limit one reservation per person each day.
  • There will be a maximum of 3 people in the pool at a time (one per lane).
  • Each reservation is 45 minutes long. Lane reservations are staggered by 20 minutes to minimize foot traffic in the pool area. 
  • Please do not arrive on the pool deck more than 5 minutes before your reservation. We recommend that you come to the facility wearing your suit under your clothes. You may leave your coat and shoes in the lobby. All other items must be taken onto the pool deck with you.
  • After your pool exercise, you may change in the assisted changing room on the pool deck. Please limit your changing time to no more than 15 minutes.  
Please note: In response to the most recent State of Illinois Tier 3 mitigations, our locker rooms, showers, whirlpools, steam rooms, saunas and West Pool area remain CLOSED. And all indoor in-person group fitness classes are cancelled until further notice.

This year has been unprecedented, and it can be difficult to predict what will happen next. We continue to follow Illinois State and City of Chicago guidelines with regard to opening and closing our facility. The safety of our members, staff and guests remains our highest priority.

The fitness floor, strength and cardio equipment, walking track and most private services are available! And our fitness specialists are ready to help you make the most out of every workout.

Plus, we offer over 40 weekly virtual group fitness classes with your favorite instructors! 

 Classes and Services 

  • Virtual classes – We will continue to offer Virtual Group Fitness classes included free with all membership types. 
  • One-on-one services – We will continue to offer in-person and virtual Personal Training, Pilates and Integrative Therapy appointments.
  • No indoor classes – Indoor Group Fitness classes, including water classes have been cancelled until further notice. 
  • Small group classes are cancelled – Small group classes like: ABC and Masters Workouts inside the facility are currently unavailable. If you were enrolled in Fall programing and did not complete your session due to class cancellations your instructor will reach out to you with options.

 Facility Updates

  • Spas/ Whirlpools
  • Steam Rooms
  • Sauna
  • KidCenter
  • Member Parking Lot

*Members with rental lockers will be able to access their lockers during the locker room closure.

What is open:

  • Fitness Floor- fully equipped with cardio, strength and stretch equipment.
  • There are designated stations with a variety of small equipment (Kettlebells, Medicine balls, VIPR, etc.) set up that you may reserve for 30 minutes at a time with a Fitness Specialist when you arrive to the Fitness Floor.
  • Indoor walking track- available for single file walking only, no running.
  • East Pool- available for water walking and water exercise only, no lap swimming. 
  • Small lock boxes near the Courtesy Desk are available for a small daily fee, if needed.
  • Drink and snack vending machines are available for use.
  • Hand Sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are readily available for use throughout the facility.
  • Member parking is available in the Swedish Hospital garage. Get a validated parking voucher for free parking at the Courtesy Desk.


 Membership Updates 

  • We resumed charging hold fees in January, 2021.You can put your account on hold for $10 a month for up to 4 months annually. 
  • Virtual only membership is now available for only $35 per month. If you are interested in signing up for this option instead of your current membership type please contact the Membership Department.
If you would like to make any changes to your membership, please contact our Membership Office at membership@schosp.org  prior to the 20th of the month.


 Visit Guidelines 

  • 90-minute facility visits may be booked daily. View the time slots available for booking here>
  • Reservations are required and available up to 48 hours in advance through our My Wellness member portal>
  • You may only reserve one 90-minute time slot per day. This does not include private one-on-one sessions. You may reserve space on the fitness floor and have a private session at a different time.
  • You don’t have to arrive right when your reservation begins, but you must exit the facility at the time it ends. For instance, if facility visit is 1-2:30 p.m. and you only want to work out for 30 minutes, you may come at 1:45 p.m. and leave at the designated time of 2:30 p.m.
  • You will not be allowed in the facility prior to your designated appointment time.
  • Masks are required in all areas of the facility. We encourage you to wear your mask as you wait to enter the facility.

 Safety Protocols 
We will continue to work with our infection control team at Swedish Hospital as well as monitor government developments and requirements to continue to offer you services in the safest manner.

  • If you feel sick, stay home.
  • Masks are required to be worn at all times in all areas of the facility.
  • All visitors have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. If your temperature is 100.4 F or higher you will not be allowed to enter the facility.
  • Water bottle filling stations are available, but fountain spouts are closed.
  • Equipment is spaced to allow for social distancing. We ask for 10 feet of social distance while on the Fitness Floor.
  • Remember to wipe down equipment before and after every use. Staff will also be wiping down equipment and high touch surfaces regularly throughout the day.
  • We are deep cleaning and disinfecting during the 15-minute closures between facility appointment times and when the building closes at the end of each day.
