Philosophy that drives my work: My teaching philosophy and focus changed after studying the Pilates method. Since then, I have taken a more thoughtful or mindful approach to exercise. I have focused my teaching and coaching to be more concerned with good form, posture and balance over the focus on making the class intense. There are many things I encourage others not to do, or to stop doing so much in the interest of long term health and functionality.
Professional Focus: Galter is a great community where many connections are made and friendships are formed. I enjoy working with and getting to know the wonderful people here.
Jesse started taking occasional Pilates group mat classes in 2004. Prior to that, Jesse has been a personal trainer for 10+ years and has taught many specialty fitness classes.
"Initially, the mat classes were very uncomfortable for me due to inability to relax muscles while exercising, and overall body stiffness. Eventually, after receiving private instruction, a new, exciting journey in flexibility, body control and body awareness began. This journey continued through my Pilates apprenticeship and certification process- achieved in 2009, and continues to this day in weekly lessons. I now enjoy ongoing growth in the practice of Pilates as a student and in teaching. The practice of Pilates has drastically changed my mind-set about exercising, and the need for it to be done with more mental concentration and body control.
Practicing Pilates has positively affected my flexibility, posture and efficiency of movement, enhancing my physical daily life and performance in competitive sport. I strongly encourage anyone interested in long term hip, spine, and over all joint health to practice Pilates."
