ONGOING PROGRAMS
Personal Fitness Strategy
New members, take advantage of four FREE sessions with a Fitness Specialist. There is an initial (consultation) session, two fitness strategy sessions and a three-month follow up re-assessment. The appointments are designed to identify your current fitness needs in order to strategize how to achieve your fitness goals. Offer valid during the first three months of membership. After three months, BodyAge evaluations are available to all members for a fee. Let our experts give you advice on achieving your goals!

Rehabilitation Medicine Services
Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are available for acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. The OT Clinic is staffed by a Certified Hand Therapist. Among the problems treated are: sports injuries, post-reconstructive surgery, neck and back pain, and work-related injuries. Call the Rehab Department at (773) 989-1682. Physician referral required.
Meet the Physical Therapist

Pulmonary Rehab Phase II
This is the initial outpatient conditioning program for those with chronic pulmonary disease. This medically based program utilizes exercise, education, and breathing re-training.
Pulmonary Rehab Phase III
This is the initial outpatient conditioning program for those with chronic pulmonary disease. This medically based program utilizes exercise, education, and breathing re-training.
Cardiac Rehab Phase II
This is the initial outpatient conditioning program for those with heart disease. This medically based exercise program monitors EKG, heart rate, blood pressure, and symptom responses.
NEW Medical Fitness Program
This is an exercise conditioning program supervised by nurses and exercise physiologists for people who suffer from chronic health problems including diabetes, and heart and lung disease.

Nutrition Services
Nutrition plays a key role in your overall wellness. Galter LifeCenter"s Registered Dietitians are available to assist you with meeting your health and weight goals by providing guidance related to weight loss, healthy meal planning, diets for treating specific medical conditions, and much more! Several packages are available to meet your needs:
- Private Nutrition Counseling: This is a private session where you may discuss your personal goals with one of our skilled Registered Dietitians. Half hour sessions and packages are also available. Fee: M $65/hr., NM $75/hr.
- Fitmate: Measurement of your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and results review with an RD. See how many calories you burn at rest, then add in activities of daily living and exercise and you"ll know how many calories you burn each day! Fee: M $70, NM $80.
- Wellfit: Combines private nutrition counseling with personal training, measurement of RMR and other GLC services such as massage, yoga, and Pilates. Fee: M $400, NM $500.
- Individual Nutrifitness: Targeted for weight management, combines nutrition counseling with personal training, including comprehensive lab work, a stress test, and measurement of your RMR. Fee: M $575, NM $675.
Nutrifitness for a NU You!
This comprehensive 12-week group weight loss program is designed for clients who are overweight or with medical conditions directly related to weight gain. The group class includes:
- Twice weekly workouts with a GLC Certified Personal Trainer
- Weekly nutrition lectures given by a GLC Registered Dietitian
- Regular behavioral sessions with a GLC Clinical Psychologist
- Stress test performed through Swedish Covenant Hospital Cardiology Dept.
- Comprehensive lab work from Swedish Covenant Hospital's Outpatient Lab
- Measurement of Resting Metabolic Rate
- Pre- and post-class fitness assessments

NEW Group Nutrition Counseling
Choose a nutrition topic and have one of our dietitians create a private nutrition class or party for your group of friends, family, or other Galter LifeCenter members. Pick a topic and save money by sharing the session with up to four people! Session prices are for those held at Galter LifeCenter. Call Nutrition Services for pricing at an off-site location. Stress Management Course
Be prepared; arm yourself with tools to manage life's stresses. Incorporating both lecture and practical segments, this course will leave you with techniques you can apply in your daily life. Personal Training
Are you getting the most out of your workouts? If not, the LifeCenter offers one-on-one fitness sessions for the beginner to the advanced exerciser. Our certified Personal Trainers can customize an exercise plan just for you! In-home and partner training also available.

Small Group Personal Training

Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program
A 45-minute water exercise routine geared specifically to those with arthritis. Improve joint flexibility and coordination, reduce muscle weakness, and decrease pain and stiffness. Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
This is a chair exercise program designed specifically for people with arthritis, using gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion to maintain muscle strength. Ongoing, Thursdays, 1:30-2:15 pm.

Strength Training for Osteoporosis
This course is designed to teach the proper exercises and create a strength training program for people with osteopenia or osteoporosis. You'll meet in a small-group setting for education, exercise and a nutrition session. The class will run for 6 weeks and will meet twice a week. Mondays, July 6-Aug. 10, 9:00-10:00 am. Thai Bodywork
A Thai Bodywork session taps into the traditions of healing, dating back thousands of years. The therapist lifts, compresses, rocks and floats the client through a series of yoga-like poses, stretches and movements, working the energy lines of the body. Private Swim Lessons Adult/Teen/Children
Did you always want to learn how to swim but were afraid of the water? Learn to swim or refine your skills, no matter what your age. Work one-on-one with a qualified Galter LifeCenter swim instructor. Swimmers of all levels and abilities are welcome. All instructors are certified as Water Safety Instructors by the American Red Cross. Lessons scheduled at your convenience. Lessons are 1/2 hour in length. Children’s Group Swimming Lessons Session #3
This children's swim class provides a healthy group environment for children to learn to swim, according to American Red Cross Certification Standards. The Galter LifeCenter's warm water environment (typically 85? to 90?) is ideal for children to become comfortable with the water. The Saturday evening program is ideal for busy families. Galter Children’s Swim Club Session #3
A swim team setting that gives children who are able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) the opportunity to develop their swimming skills in a fun, supportive environment. Designed for children and youths seeking to develop advanced swimming skills, this program is coached by experienced competitive swimmers. 10-week session for ages 6-17. Registration in progress. Aquababies Session #4
Aquababies will help you as a parent better understand how to expose your children to the water in a healthy environment. Masters Swimming Program 3rd Quarter
This on-going swimming program is ideal for masters' swimmers, tri-athletes or anyone who is looking to increase their fitness level. As a minimum, participants should be able to complete two lengths (50 yards) of the pool. Both advanced and beginner swimming tracks are available. Nationally and internationally ranked coaches provide instruction.
3rd Quarter

Family Swim Day
This event gives families the opportunity to swim at the LifeCenter. Open only to members and their immediate family. There is a minimum of one adult per two children. Program takes place in the East Pool and children must be 13 years of age or younger. Registration opens two weeks prior. Sundays: July 12, Aug. 9, and Sept. 13, 12:30-2:00pm, 2:30-4:00pm and 4:30-6:00 pm.

Yoga for the New Mom
This class will provide stretching for the healing mother's body. We will work on breathing exercises designed to reduce anxiety and increase abdominal muscle tone. This class does not seek to increase the heart rate of the new mother and is appropriate for a woman who has recently given birth. Infants are welcome and encouraged to attend. Two 6-week sessions. Cardio Resistance Training (CRT)

Cardio Kickbox
Caitlin will take you through a challenging cardio workout that will sculpt and tone your body! You will use the pads to punch and kick your way to a new you! Private Pilates - True to the Original Method...
Receive tailored, individualized instruction from our Certified Pilates Instructors. Lessons are available in our fully equipped Pilates Studio or in your home. Pilates is wonderful for all ages and fitness levels. We offer private solos, duets and trios. Share the cost and gain support from your workout partner. Come to our Pilates Open House where our Certified Pilates instructors will be demonstrating exercises on the different apparatuses and answer all of your questions. Pilates Basics

Pilates Small Group Mat Classes
Continue working on your Pilates mat work! Classes will consist of small, private mat classes for experienced Pilates mat students. There will be intense mat work along with the use of the magic circle and/or arm weights. Classes run 45 minutes. Fee: M $120, NM $145. After July 3, fee: M $135, NM $160. Pilates Progressive Mat Course
The goal of this class is for the novice student to master the Pilates Intermediate Mat workout on their own from memory. This class will be a structured, progressive workshop with new exercises added weekly, previously-learned exercises refined, as well as appropriate modifications for special needs. 8-week course. Yoga /Tai Chi Privates

Tai Chi Chuan - Long Form
These classes teach the Long Form developed by Master H.H.Lui. Its many movements incorporate level changes and twists and are more complex and challenging than the Tai Chi Chuan for Elders form. Yoga for the Full(er) Figure
This class will introduce generally fit yet fuller-figured beginning students to a well-balanced Hatha practice in a safe, comfortable environment, emphasizing accommodations for body type. Turbo Hydro with Jandra
Not just your everyday water class. One hour of heart pounding, muscle pumping action for those who want to embrace power and resistance. Kick, punch, jump, push, pull and hold your breath for this total immersion into the depths of your muscle tissue and heights of your cardio vascular strength. Swimming ability recommended. Total Body Express
Try this new and improved express class designed to work the entire body. Maki will take you through a challenging workout using the upper body, lower body and core all in a half hour! Taught by Maki Uechi. Thursdays, July 9-Aug. 13, 4:00-4:30 pm. Fee: M $35.
Rejuvenating Stretch
Treat your body, mind, and spirit with a rejuvenating stretch class. Lengthening the muscles helps to prevent injuries, release toxins, and enhance performance. Maki will take you through 20 minutes of stretching and 10 minutes of guided meditation and relaxation. Thursdays, July 9-Aug. 13, 4:30-5:00 pm. Fee: M $35. Let's Play Ball

Band Blast

Liquid Ballet
Experience ballet in the water. Lois Grossman will take you through a one-hour aquatic ballet workshop. You will work on classical ballet and modern dance techniques and learn grace and elegance in a non stressful environment. Sat., July 18, 11:00-11:45 am. Fee: M $15, NM $25.
Argentine Tango
Experience Argentine Tango, the internationally famous and romantic dance of Argentina! This class is a fun way to learn better balance and coordination, focusing on all of the Tango fundamentals, to some of the most inspirational dance music in the world! TRX N' Things
TRX is a body weight training system, which is coupled with the BOSU, medicine ball, and body bar. This class leaves you with a full body workout. Workout with Nate
Tired of the same old workout routine on the same old equipment? Learn cardio, strength and core moves using some of our other tools in the gym. It is fun, innovative, and it works!
