Private Swim Lessons

Work one-on-one with qualified aquatics instructors to learn how to swim or refine your skills. Swimmers of all levels are welcome and children must be at least three years of age to receive instruction. We offer multiple options for private swim lessons taught by professionally trained staff and Water Safety Instruction (WSI) certified instructors. Private lessons are scheduled based on instructor, client and pool space availability. All private swim lessons are 30 minutes.

Availability for members

  • Highlighted times below are at full capacity. Please note there will be a significant wait if you select those times. 
  • Members receive priority on the Private Swim Lesson waitlist and advanced registration for all Aquatics Programs.
  • For information regarding group lessons, such as our Learn-to-Swim program, click here.
  • Any child whose skill is above Level 3 will be taught in the West Pool and is eligible for our Intermediate/Advanced Learn-to-Swim program. See in-take form for level descriptions.

Availability for nonmembers

  • Currently, we are not scheduling new nonmember clients during highlighted times. If highlighted times are chosen, we will not be able to accommodate your request.
  • Please email in-take forms to glcaquaticsinfo@swedishcovenant.org.
  • Phone calls will not be taken for new nonmember Private Swim Lesson inquiries.

Pool area rules for children and parents

  • To comply with Illinois health and safety regulations, everyone must shower before entering the pool.
  • Food, street shoes and cell phone use are not allowed on the pool deck. Drinks with twist tops are allowed.
  • When taking a picture please ask the instructor for permission and photograph your child only.
  • If your child is not potty trained please be sure they wear water proof diapers designed for swimming.  
  • Videotaping is not permitted. 
  • All children on the pool deck must be supervised by an adult.

POOL AREA USAGE

  • Entrance to pool areas is through the locker rooms.
  • Please use hallway only if required due to age of opposite sex children. The hallway entering the East Pool is a “Quiet Zone” due massage appointments taking place. Please use inside voices when in hallway outside East Pool area.

Locker Room Policy for Children

  • Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the locker rooms at all times.
  • Children four years old and younger can accompany a parent/guardian in the locker room, regardless of the child's gender but we ask that the parent/guardian use the designated family changing area of the locker rooms to change the child.
  • Children over four years of age will need to be accompanied by a same gender parent/guardian in the locker room.  Otherwise they must use the family changing rooms located near the West Pool.
